What is the difference between SMS, MMS, and GIF videos?
SMS stands for Short Message Service while MMS stands for Multimedia Messaging Service. SMS is limited to plain text messages up to 160 characters, while MMS allows longer texts and multimedia content such as images, videos, and audio files. MMS messages can also be much longer than SMS.
MMS videos are limited to 3.5MB while SMS can be much larger and are of higher quality. Depending on the recipient's cell phone plan, larger videos may be stored on their cloud and the recipient may receive a link to the video.
GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format and is an image file. It is usually a short animated 'video' without sound.

The 9:16 and 1:1 are designed with mobile use in mind for thinking of you, birthday, and when a person is expected to open it on their phone. 16:9 videos are designed with laptop or desktop use in mind, such as kids activities and teacher thank you notes. 1:1 are convenient GIFs or MMS style greetings for texting and messenger apps.

Why are some cards textable and other cards show social media or message app?
The complexity of the card determines whether it is textable or not. Except for some GIFS, all eCards can be sent to the recipient via Social Media app or Message App like WhatsApp, TEAMS, or other collaboration application. Be sure to follow company policy if using these at work.
Simple cards that have very little design or a lot of white space, are designed to be texted. You will see 'text', 'textable', or 'text message' in the description if that is the case. If you are not sure, message us and we will check the size for you. The file size and length tells us if the ecard is textable when you download it from the Etsy store, but we test each textable e-card before listing it.
Are eCards safe to send?
All Metronome LLC products are downloaded from Canva, scanned by our virus software, and uploaded to Etsy. Because businesses are very, very virus conscious, we recommend GIFS because it has been determined that they are less likely to be used for malicious purposes. We have a GIF - No Sound section and GIFs in the Employee Appreciation section, for this reason.
